On June 2, 1972, Wayne Brady was born in Orlando, Florida.  His early goals included entering the military, but soon after his first role in a high school play at age 16, Wayne realized his entertainment dreams.  After high school, he became a stand up comedian performing in Orlando.  Wayne’s first professional play was entitled “A Raisin in the Sun”.  In 1996, he moved to Las Vegas and then Los Angeles.

His big break came in 1998 when he appeared on the British show “Whose Line is it Anyway?” which eventually made its way to the States the same year.  On April 3, 1999, Wayne married his wife, Mandie Taketa.  Wayne and Mandie currently live in Los Angeles.

In 2000, Wayne appeared in the ABC musical “Geppetto” which starred “Whose Line” host Drew Carey.  Wayne’s stardom expanded to a second, short-lived show called “The Wayne Brady Show” in 2001.  After bad reviews and not much of an audience, the show was eventually dropped after a few months.  Wayne also appears in an improv comedy troupe in Los Angeles called “A Houseful of Honkeys”.

Wayne is without a doubt one of the best musical contestants on the show and is famous for doing impressions of Sammy Davis, Jr. and Louie Armstrong.  In fact, Wayne hopes to one day pursue a recording career.
